Building a Future for Eskdale

Building a Future for Eskdale is an exciting new project under the umbrella of the Langholm Initiative that aims to create and develop new opportunities for training, employment and enterprise.

Included in our events have been 'Inspiring Entrepreneurs', 'Careers in Care' and 'Taste of Textiles'. All of these have highlighted the importance of enterprise and training in the remote rural area we are situated in, and encouraged many members of the community to come forward and ask us for advice. We have also engaged with training providers to help 22 people attain food hygiene qualifications. Our position as a community organisation at the heart of Eskdale places us perfectly to work with the JobCentre in Annan, and we have taken a number of referralls that we are working with continually to provide the support that they require to help get back into employment. As we head into our final quarter for this year, we are positive that we will bring more skills and opportunities to the fore.
