9 August 2007 – Birthday Celebrations
Thomas Telford was born on the 9th August 1757 at Glendinning in the Parish of Westerkirk which is to the north of Langholm. On 9 August 2007 a Cairn made of local stone and a Plaque from the Institution of Civil Engineers were unveiled in honour of Thomas Telford .......

A Musical Tribute to Thomas Telford
On 8 September 2007 the Langholm and Westerkirk Thomas Telford Anniversary Group was delighted to present a concert showcasing a new piece of music. The music was written for the 250th Anniversary of the birth of Thomas Telford by Jamie Telford for Langholm’s Town, Flute and Pipe bands.........

In August 2007, the Langholm Library Trust put on an exhibition in honour of Thomas Telford in the Langholm Library Gallery. The Exhibition showed the primary school children’s paintings of Thomas Telford as well as a DVD about him and local artefacts taken from the Langholm Library. Langholm Library received a bequest in Thomas Telford’s will and is managed by a local Trust.
Commemorative Service in Honour of Thomas Telford
A Commemorative Service was held at Westerkirk Church on 12 August 2007 with readings and tributes paid to Thomas Telford by local speakers. The Service was led by the Reverend Bob Milne, the Minister of Langholm, Eskdalemuir, Ewes and Westerkirk Churches and followed a similar format to the service held at Westerkirk in 1957 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Thomas Telford’s birth.
