Annandale & Eskdale Painting Challenge 2004                 Calling All Artists

Enjoy dabbling with watercolour or pottering with pastels?  Then the Annandale & Eskdale Painting Challenge 2004 is your opportunity to spend a day doing just this and maybe win a generous prize for your efforts.  Amateur or professional artists are invited to enter the one day Painting Challenge on Saturday 19th June and create a painting in Annandale & Eskdale. All entries will be judged on Sunday 20th June and the prize-giving held at 12 noon on Sunday 20th June at Annan Museum. The paintings will then be exhibited in Langholm Town Hall Gallery the following week.

The top prize for the open category is £1000 cash. In addition there are prizes for the best painting by a resident of Annandale & Eskdale (sponsored by Alba Printers), a young person under 10 years old and a young person in the 10 - 16 years age range (sponsored by the Bank of Scotland) and a special category for the most positive image of Annandale & Eskdale (sponsored by the Friends of Annandale & Eskdale Museums).   The competition started 3 years ago in the aftermath of FMD born from a desire by a local resident to see beautiful images of Annandale & Eskdale in contrast to the previous months.
